Saint-Ferréol Chapel

Historic site and monument Bourg-Saint-Andéol

Its origins dates back from Antiquity, probably there used to be a former pagan temple at the foot of the hill of Montjau. You can see a Romanesque window above the entrance (17th century). Pilgrimage in September.

According to an old local adage, "Bourg-St-Andéol has two saints : Saint Andéol for praying and St Ferreol for dancing" as there were so many people for the religious feast as it has become a trade fair with a lot of merchants. St Ferreol is a martyr from Uzès, bischop during the 6th century. The chapel has been renovated in the XVIth century after the deteriorations caused by the religion wars.
